Progret — Privacy Policy

Progret is a read-only monitor for Progret kilns and furnaces. This policy explains what data the app does and does not handle. It is written to be simple and honest.

Progret does not collect, transmit, or share any personal data. There are no accounts, no analytics, no advertising, and no third-party trackers. Everything the app stores stays on your device.

What the app does

• Connects to your furnace(s) over your local network (Wi-Fi, or the furnace's own Wi-Fi access point) to read live status — temperature, program progress, faults and similar readouts.
• Discovers furnaces on the local network via mDNS/Bonjour.
• The connection is receive-only: the app never sends commands to a furnace.

Data stored on your device (only)

• Your list of saved furnaces (name and network address).
• App preferences (theme, language, per-furnace mute and keep-awake, furnace name).
• Firing history you observed — start and end time, program/mass name, peak temperature, faults and a temperature curve — kept on the device and capped in size.

This data is stored locally using the device's standard app storage. It is not uploaded anywhere. Uninstalling the app removes it.

Data the app does NOT collect

• No name, email address, phone number, or account.
• No location data.
• No analytics, crash tracking, or advertising identifiers.
• No contacts, photos, or files.

Permissions

• Local network — to find and read from furnaces on your Wi-Fi.
• Notifications (optional) — to alert you when a firing completes or a fault occurs. These are local notifications only; nothing is sent to a server.

App updates

The app checks for its own updates through Expo's update service. Those requests carry a randomly generated installation identifier, the app version and the device platform — no personal data, and nothing about your furnaces or firings. The identifier is not linked to you and is not used for advertising or tracking.

Children

The app is a professional tool and is not directed at children. It collects no personal data from anyone.

Changes

If this policy changes, the "Last updated" date above will change. Material changes are also noted in the app's changelog.
